Description
The original thatched cottages in the beautiful village of Adare, Co. Limerick were built in the 1800s to house the employees of the Dunraven family’s Adare Manor estate. Irish Dresden has specially handcrafted one of these iconic cottages in fine porcelain. To create the image of the thatched roof we use the unique art of dipping cotton net lace into porcelain clay. Our Irish Dresden artist applies the lace in tiny ruffles to the roof and also decorates the window with fine lace curtain. The material burns away in the second fire leaving its pattern in the porcelain.
An opening at the back allows for a candle light to be placed inside the cottage giving a cosy light and atmosphere (candle light not supplied).
